About

My interest in narrative has lead me on many paths. It began with typography,
leading into topography. I am determined to combine the two subjects. My interest then
peaked in cartography and thus planet Shewhawk was created. Beginning as a self portrait of
four separate people, it has become a social experiment. Shewhawk is a planet created from
one large land mass surrounded by water. The single landmass is divided into four separate
quadrants. Each quadrant is unique and a reflection of one life. Each person governs their
quadrant by a set of rules that they determine. Our personal narratives have begun to
combine. As four different version of the same story appear, one quadrant will forever be
reflected in each of the other three. By creating a civilization we are forced to question what
values we merit and why these values are justified. I don’t assume to know where this piece
will take me, but I will enjoy the time spent determining a thoughtful answer.
